On behalf of the College of
Arts & Sciences, and in cooperation with the Union of Concerned Scientists,
Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program and a host of other national
organizations, you are cordially invited to:
A viewing of the film Shored Up on Wednesday Nov 6th,
2013 at 6:30 PM in Edwards Hall Room 112 followed by discussion with the
director and local sea-level rise scientists.
When
Superstorm Sandy devastated the East Coast, it was a wake-up call to a new
reality. Shored Up takes us to the heart of this climate change controversy,
following communities in NJ and NC where politics, economics and science collide.
As the oceans rise and storms flood our towns and cities, do we ignore nature,
or do we allow science to guide our policies for the future ... before it’s too
late?
