Department of Counselor Education at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a senior counselor educator


Position Summary:
The Department of Counselor Education at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a senior counselor educator to join our faculty as a tenure-track associate professor with a specialty in clinical mental health counseling beginning no later than August, 2014. The Department is located in Southeast Florida and  includes seven tenured faculty members. It offers the M.Ed. and Ed.S. Degrees in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling - both CACREP accredited, and Rehabilitation Counseling - CORE accredited, as well as a Ph.D. in Counseling.    A record of excellence in research and scholarly achievement, teaching and service is required for appointment at senior rank.

The primary responsibilities will include teaching in a CACREPaccredited master's and doctoral program, as well as maintaining productive scholarly record, and service activities to the University. An earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program or a degree in a related field with demonstrated work experience as a counselor educator is required.  Evidence of commitment to diversity. Experience teaching graduate level clinical mental health counseling specialized courses and/or core general counseling coursework.   Effective verbal and written communication and technology skills. Record of conducting and publishing scholarly research in peer-reviewed outlets.  

Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program or a degree in a related field with demonstrated work experience as a counselor educator is required

Must have experience using instructional technology to deliver eLearning and hybrid courses and experience as a clinical mental-health counselor and supervisor.  Must have an understanding of competency-based training.  Must be a Licensed Mental Health Counselor or is eligible and a Registered Mental Health Supervisor or is eligible. The selected candidate must be eligible for membership in Chi Sig Iota and have a record of professional leadership in state, regional or national counseling associations.

The evaluation should be scanned and electronically attached to one's application as with other US-based transcripts. 

Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit official, sealed transcripts from all institutions where graduate coursework was attempted, whether or not a degree was obtained, as well as an original NACES evaluation, if applicable. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University not to you as the student.

A background check will be required for the candidate selected for this position. This position is subject to funding.
