The Department of Professional Counseling at Webster University invites applications for a full-time non-tenured faculty appointment in Counselor Education with possible administrative responsibilities beginning immediately at the Webster University campuses in Charleston, South Carolina. A doctorate in Counselor Education preferably from a CACREP-accredited program is required. Applicants from related disciplines who have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a Counselor Education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013 are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should identify with the counseling profession through memberships in professional organizations (i.e., ACA and/or its divisions). Experience in teaching, clinical supervision of counselors in training, and eligibility, as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina is also required.
This is a twelve (12) month academic position. Faculty members have advising and clinical supervision responsibilities, are expected to teach core-counseling courses, engage in professional development, and other activities to support a counselor identity. In addition, faculty are expected to participate in department, college, and university governance activities, and other university events.
Includes administrative responsibilities as the Charleston Counseling Coordinator, entailing oversight of the Charleston counseling program. The ideal candidate will have 1) experience as an academic administrator of a counselor education program; 2) experience teaching in a counselor education program; 3) experience implementing/adhering to professional standards (e.g., CACREP, NCATE, etc.), and 4) the ability to work with local, state, national, and international professional counseling agencies and organizations.
