Assistant Professor, Master of Science in Counseling Psychology Program, Department of Psychology, Louisiana State University Shreveport.
Full-time, tenure track position to begin September 2014 or January 2014. . This position will continue to be posted until filled. Qualifications: Successful candidate must have a Doctorate in Counselor Education, from a CACREP accredited program. The successful candidate should ideally be licensed or license-eligible as a licensed professional counselor and psychologist in the State of Louisiana. The Department offers a terminal Masters of Science degree in Counseling Psychology which produces students who are license-eligible for the LPC in Louisiana, but also involves a solid core of basic psychological science. The MSCP program is a 60 hour program. Experience and training with mental health counseling are highly preferred. Responsibilities: Teach a wide range of graduate courses in counseling, assist with CACREP accreditation process which is on-going, assist with the coordination of practicum and internship placements, supervise monitoring of students at community sites, and advise program students. The successful candidate may also teach at the undergraduate level, and needs to share the values of a traditional psychology department. Candidates will engage in scholarly activities consistent with the requirements for tenure and promotion. LSUS values the traditional roles of teaching, research, and service in that order of priority. Candidates will also need to actively pursue involvement in professional counseling organizations at the state, regional, and national levels and obtain LPC licensure as a requirement of the position.
