Immediate Opening Associate Professor and Chair – Spring 2014 (or Summer 2014)
NYIT’s School of Education invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenure track position at the associate professor rank in School Counselor Education.

NYIT is a non-profit, independent, private institution of higher education with 14,000 students and campuses on Long Island and Manhattan, online, and at several global locations.  NYIT’s School of Education (SOE) provides professional preparation for teachers, school counselors, educational leaders, and leaders/practitioners in instructional technology in education and corporate settings. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The chairperson position will be leading the School Counseling Department in Manhattan, Old Westbury, and offsite campuses. The Chair will be responsible for the development of an online program, innovative leadership of the department, quality of the curriculum and instruction, and maintaining program accreditation. He/she will process faculty teaching assignments, and the coordination of advisement of graduate students majoring in master’s level certification programs within the department. The chairperson will collaborate with faculty members in scholarly research and grant writing. The Department Chair will be the administrative officer of the department for all campuses. The position requires supervisory responsibilities in Manhattan, Old Westbury and online.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A vision for innovative counseling in 21st century schools; Creativity for developing unique high quality program development; An earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP accredited institution; Established record of teaching, scholarship, and service meriting appointment at the rank of associate professor; Experience teaching in higher education and supervising school counseling interns and practicum students; Strong organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, both in and out of the department, as well as in public schools, professional organizations, and community agencies; Full-time experience as a school counselor in P-12 schools; Minimum of five years full-time college/university teaching experience; Experience with field placements and certification; Commitment to student and faculty diversity and multiculturalism; ability to work with diverse student populations, a strong commitment to good teaching, experience as school counselor, a collaborative collegial disposition, interest in working with school/agency partners, familiarity with Transformed School Counseling, the ASCA National Model, and CACREP 2009 standards, and experience with instructional technology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Prior administrative experience; Experience with program assessment and accreditation (CACREP & NCATE); Experience in faculty governance, leadership, mentoring, and development; Experience with online education; Experience with securing external funding associated with a focused scholarship agenda; Experience with program development activities.
