The Counselor Education Program at the University of South Carolina is proud to announce a faculty opening for the fall of 2014. The official announcement is as follows:
The Department of Educational Studies at the University of South Carolina invites
applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (tenure track) in School Counseling
with expertise in Play Therapy. The anticipated start date for the successful applicant is
August 2014.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have: (1) an earned doctorate in Counselor Education. A doctorate from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program is preferred; Current counselor educators with other doctoral training will be considered; (2) experience in teaching and supervision in counselor education; (3) experience and commitment to diversity training and working with diverse populations (especially with children of color and the LGBT population); (4) and a track record or the potential for Research I level scholarship and for obtaining competitive grants.
Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will join a team of faculty and will spearhead the Graduate Certificate Program in Play therapy. S/He will supervise and advise students enrolled in both the play Therapy Certificate and School Counseling Ed.S. programs. In addition to teaching core courses in our entry-level programs (Ed.S. in School Counseling and Marriage Couple and Family Counseling) the individual will teach courses for our Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Summer teaching is available.
