Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, invites applications for a faculty position in Mental Health Counseling. The successful candidate will teach graduate classes in the Mental Health Counseling sequence; maintain an active research agenda; assist in the coordination of the mental health counseling program; supervise master's level students; and fulfill service responsibilities to the division, college, and university, and in advancing the counseling profession. The candidate will be expected to work in collaboration with other colleagues in the Center for Psychological Studies and community partners; develop and carry out a research/grant agenda that addresses culturally-diverse issues and concerns; and supervise students in practicum and in internship field placements.
Qualifications: The applicant must possess a doctorate in Counselor Education (doctoral degree must be earned and conferred by date of hire) and be licensed or license eligible as a professional counselor in Florida. The candidate should also hold certification with NBCC, and demonstrate evidence of a research agenda or a clear potential for scholarly activities. Preference will be given to applicants from a CACREP-accredited program, documented clinical experience in the field of mental health counseling, and active professional involvement with NBCC and/or ACA. A commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as a commitment to service is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctorate degree in Counselor Education;
• Professional identity as a counselor educator;
• Commitment to the professional field of counselor education and mental health counseling as evidenced by education, teaching, counseling experience, research, and professional affiliations, such as AMHCA, ACES, and ACA;
• Experience in teaching graduate level courses; and
• Commitment to diversity and multicultural counseling competencies
