Bilingual Mental Health Counselor (Sisters of Color United for Education)
Position Summary
Primary responsibilities for the Bilingual Mental Health Counselor include support to individuals, couples, families and groups. Counselor will be working with an array of participants some of which may include; participants who are living with and/or affected by HIV, victims of domestic violence, and walk-ins experiencing crisis. This position requires skill, empathy, and cultural sensitivity along with the completion of an intake, assessment, counseling/coaching, group facilitation and the creation/maintenance of treatment plans.
Essential Job Functions
• Provide short-term individual, couple, familial and group mental health counseling services for individuals who are affected by HIV/AIDS
• Complete biopsychosocial intake assessment
• Develop and adhere to client driven treatment plan
• Complete timely session documentation in online confidential database and participant files
• Maintain current files as outlined in program policies and procedures including eligibility documents
• Complete monthly client activity reports
• Coordinate mental health services and/or referrals with medical case managers and other community providers/partners
• Attend department and organizational meetings as well as monthly clinical supervision
• Provide assistance to individuals presenting in crisis as appropriate.
• Coordinate and facilitate support group for victims of domestic violence
• Provide medical case management to a satellite service provider in Aurora
• Provide emotional support and counseling to participants and their families
• Create and complete health care plan and make sure that such is delivered in an efficient and effective manner
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
Master's degree in a behavioral health field (MSW preferred), along with proof of current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA); Psychotherapist, LSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, NCC, or other suitable clinical license required. Ability to speak read and write fluently in Spanish is required. Familiarity and experience working with people of color in counseling including; Latinos, Chicanos, Native Americans, Asians, African Americans, immigrant populations, etc. . .
Background in HIV matter is preferred. Position requires twenty hours of training during the first six months of employment.
