We are dedicated Professional School Counselors and we love our jobs!  While challenging yet rewarding, we give and we give and we give.  When major crises or disasters occur, we jump into action and give even more.....but who is taking care of the caregivers? Who is taking care of us?  When it comes to a major crises or disaster, it is not IF it will happen, but WHEN it will happen.  This webinar will examine the definitions of compassion fatigue and how it is different from burnout.  Get strategies and ideas on how to identify compassion fatigue and how to nurture our students, families, school staff, AND ourselves after a major community crisis.

Objectives:

1.       Participants will be able to compare and contrast compassion fatigue and burnout.
2.       Participants will be able to identify the signs of compassion fatigue

3.       Participants will be able to offer strategies to students, staff and families who are suffering from a major crisis situation

4.       Participants will be able to identify the steps needed to maintain a healthy body and mind before, during and after a major crisis
