Graded - The American School of Sao Paulo seeks a high school guidance/college counselor for August 2013
The School
Graded has
been serving children of diplomatic, business, academic and professional
families in São Paulo since 1920. Founded by the American Chamber of
Commerce, the school is an independent, non-profit, co-educational day
school, which prepares students for admission to competitive
universities. The school offers the U.S., Brazilian and International
Baccalaureate Diplomas.
The student
body is comprised of 1224 students, representing 35 different
nationalities. 380 of those students are in the high school (School Profile)
Graded has
just embarked on an ambitious project to to enhance facilities, increase
merit-based scholarships and increase professional development funding.

The Position
This new
counselor will join two outstanding educators in providing a full range
of support to Graded high school students. Specifically, this person
will team up with our current college counselor to work directly with
11th and 12th graded students providing them with a full range of
services, including college advising.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide individualized social/emotional and college counseling services to students in grades 11 and 12
Participate as a member of the High School Student Support Team
Promote Graded's program and students both within and outside the community
Develop learning experiences for students based on the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) standards
Review candidate files during the admissions process.
Serve as the SAT and ACT test center coordinator
Communicate proactively with students, teachers, parents and university representatives
Participate in the Graded community outside of the regular school day

Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Education.
Certification in counseling or equivalent preferred
Experience as a high school counselor, including college counseling
Experience using appropriate technologies, including Naviance
