University Guidance Counselor
Basic Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide information, guidance and support to students applying to universities both locally and abroad
  • Coordinate the production of school documents required by students for their university applications (reference letters, predicted grades, transcripts)
  • Process student applications on the Common Application (US) and UCAS (UK) systems, as required
  • Meet with parents and provide counseling
  • Organize presentations to students by university representatives
  • Administer the PSAT test
  • Administer special university entrance exams
  • Devise a programme of occasional workshops to help Form 3 to 5 students prepare for university applications
  • Maintain and develop the collection of university-related material in the IB study room
  • Maintain the guidance counseling noticeboard
  • Regularly communicate with alumni and facilitate the formation of an alumni association
  • Attend information sessions at local universities
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all student information
  • Occasional substitute teaching or other relevant tasks as requested by Administration
Required Qualifications
  • Previous teaching or counseling of year 11 and 12 students
  • Understanding of the university admission process in the US or UK
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Organized, reliable, trustworthy
