University Guidance Counselor
Basic Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide information, guidance and support to students applying to universities both locally and abroad
- Coordinate the production of school documents required by students for their university applications (reference letters, predicted grades, transcripts)
- Process student applications on the Common Application (US) and UCAS (UK) systems, as required
- Meet with parents and provide counseling
- Organize presentations to students by university representatives
- Administer the PSAT test
- Administer special university entrance exams
- Devise a programme of occasional workshops to help Form 3 to 5 students prepare for university applications
- Maintain and develop the collection of university-related material in the IB study room
- Maintain the guidance counseling noticeboard
- Regularly communicate with alumni and facilitate the formation of an alumni association
- Attend information sessions at local universities
- Maintain the confidentiality of all student information
- Occasional substitute teaching or other relevant tasks as requested by Administration
Required Qualifications
- Previous teaching or counseling of year 11 and 12 students
- Understanding of the university admission process in the US or UK
- Good interpersonal skills
- Organized, reliable, trustworthy
