The Curry School of Education, University of Virginia: Assistant Professor

The Curry School of Education, University of Virginia invites applications for a nine month non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to teach and supervise in the Counselor Education Program for the 2013-2014 academic year. Responsibilities for this position include: teaching master's level School Counseling courses and counseling related undergraduate courses; providing counseling supervision; assisting in on-line course development; and actively participating in program and departmental activities. Additionally, the incumbent provides individual and group personal /career counseling services and career workshops through the Personal Career and Development Center of the Sheila Johnson clinic. 

A doctorate in Counselor Education is required, preferably from a CACREP accredited program. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a credential as a School Counselor or have relevant counseling experience. 

Teaching experience in a higher education setting or equivalent in courses related to counseling diverse populations, counseling techniques as well as supervision of counselors-in-training. School counseling experience is preferred. Knowledge of comprehensive school counseling programing for children and youth, focusing on career, academic, personal, and social development in school settings is required. 

Knowledge of evidence-based methods for successfully providing services to children and youth in school settings is also required. Cultural competence in the assessment and delivery of counseling services and a commitment to professional service and leadership is also required. Candidates must have or be eligible for licensure in School Counseling as a LPC or NCC.
