The Center for Multicultural Affairs at Marist College Assistant Director

The Center for Multicultural Affairs at Marist College invites application for an Assistant Director to be responsible for developing and facilitating programs and services focused on the awareness of an appreciation for racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity. The Assistant Director is also responsible for recruiting prospective HEOP students, providing counseling and advisement, and administering the residential and student life aspects of the HEOP Summer Program. This position supervises the Programming Tutor Counselor, Math Tutor Counselor, Writing Tutor Counselor, and academic year Student Assistant and all staff in absence of the Director.
Responsibilities include: Assisting in building and maintaining a campus environment that is inclusive, pluralistic, and diverse; along with, planning programs and workshops that promote the goals and values of a diverse and inclusive campus for students and the entire college community; Developing all residential and student life aspects of the HEOP Summer Program; Recruiting and screening applicants, review documentation and interview students. Working closely with the Admissions Office for campus visits for high schools and other organizations and actively recruits at local community colleges; Counseling and serving as the primary Academic Advisor for HEOP, Presidential Referral, and CMA students in academic, personal, financial aid, and career matters.
Master’s Degree in college student affairs, counseling, social work or related field; two to three years of direct experience in participating multicultural institutional or student organizations and/or experience relating to economically and educationally disadvantaged students; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated organizational and program planning skills. Background in counseling and recruitment desired.
