Tenure-Track Job Description for CMHC Position #2

The Department of Human Development and Psychological
Counseling (HPC) at Appalachian State University invites applications
for a beginning tenure-track nine-month faculty position at the rank of
assistant professor starting August 2014.  The requirements for the
position include a doctorate in counselor education and supervision,
preferably from a CACREP accredited program, and all doctoral
requirements must be completed before beginning employment.

Instructional duties will include teaching Development Assessment
and Diagnosis (DSM), Legal/Ethical Issues, Testing, Addictions,
Internship and other CMHC courses.  Qualifications include: full-time
professional counseling experience, strong clinical and supervisory
experience and eligibility to become a NC Licensed Professional
Counselor.  The person must also be willing to serve as CMHC
Director if the need arises. Faculty members are expected to
maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in
service activities.

HPC offers MA programs in professional school counseling, marriage
and family therapy, clinical mental health counseling and college
student development, in addition to certificate programs in expressive
arts therapy and addictions counseling. There are 16 full-time faculty
members and 175 graduate students.

Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-

bachelors and masters programs in both liberal arts and applied
