Assistant Professor, School Counseling
Department of Psychological and Social Foundations

The University of South Florida is a high-impact, global research university dedicated to student

Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and is ranked in the top one-third nationally
among graduate schools of education by US News and World Report. The College contributed
significantly to the University's national and international agenda through research, teaching, and
service activities. During the past year it received over $22 million in external grants and
contracts in support of its research and professional service efforts. It is housed in a state-of-theart
wireless education facility.

The Department of Psychological and Social Foundations includes 24 faculty members and
offers degree programs at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels. The Counselor Education master’s
program is accredited by CACREP, and the School Psychology doctoral program is accredited
by APA. The department has a strong tradition of inquiry and scholarship, quality teaching and
mentoring, commitment to diversity, and service within the College, University, K-12 schools,

POSITION:
Assistant Professor - Counselor Education, College of Education (Tampa Campus), Department
of Psychological and Social Foundations of Education, 9-month, tenure-earning position, starting
August 7, 2013. Responsibilities: teaching graduate level courses in counselor education;
supervision of master’s and doctoral degree students; scholarship; service to colleagues within
the College, University, community partners, and professional associations. ABDs accepted but
all degree requirements must be met by start date of August 7, 2013.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Doctoral degree in counselor education by start date.
 Evidence of potential for significant scholarship in counselor education in areas
important to school counseling.
 Evidence of successful college-level teaching in counselor education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Two years professional experience as a school counselor.
 A record of published scholarship in counselor education in areas important to school
counseling.
 Experience with on-line teaching in higher education and use of technology in counselor
education.
 A record of promoting successful collaboration between college/university programs and
school districts in the area of counseling.
 Evidence of successful mentoring of students in higher education.
 Success in working with adult students from diverse academic backgrounds and life
experiences.
