Lee, Collier school guidance in short supply nationally

A handful of students and parents are usually waiting at Scott Conforte’s office door by the time his car rolls into the school’s parking lot at 6:35 a.m. For the next nine hours, the veteran Ida S. Baker counselor is helping students with class scheduling, college scholarships and various family issues.


With 450 students fighting for his attention, Conforte hardly has time to take a lunch.
