Incarnate Word High School, an all girls, college prep program seeks a grade 9/10 guidance counselor to begin immediately.
The 9th/10th Guidance Counselor would perform the following essential functions:
a.Provide
individual, small or large group counseling sessions for assigned
students (freshmen, sophomores and any students assigned by the Vice
Principal or Principal) in dealing with their personal needs as they
affect school performance, as well as their educational and career
plans, on a short term, limited basis.
b. Meet with STEP (conditionally accepted) students to address specific needs, coordinate with teachers assigned mods for required subject areas, identify methods for success, and monitor progress. Complete STEP student chart with +/- notes from STEP teachers.
c. Provide academic advisement to assigned students through discussions individually or in small groups in regard to four year plans, course selection, activities, grade point average, standardized testing scores, career interests and educational goals and summer school and/or online opportunities.
d. Provides emergency support to students as needed during crises.
e. Coordinate mediation of assigned students, parents/guardians, teachers, and staff when necessary.
f. Reviews and interprets results of assessment programs for assigned students and utilizes results for academic counseling purposes.
g. Provide referrals to students and families for obtaining offsite personal counseling, additional tutoring resources and other needs as necessary.
Also, In conjunction with the junior/senior counselor, plan, coordinate, and monitor Fish Tips teachers, Mentors, and Trainers as part of the Guidance Office Leadership Programs. Will also be involved in staff consultations, student and parent orientations, as well as, other duties as assigned.

Must have a
Master's Degree in Educational Counseling and 2-3 years counseling
experience at an educational institution or 2-3 years teaching at a
Texas School.
