Information Session for the Doctor of Education Degree

Doctor of Education Program Information

The College of Education at FGCU will begin a new cohort of students for the Doctor of Education program in the fall of 2017 with two concentrations: Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership. We also have cognate and elective classes in Higher Education for those working in colleges and universities careers.

The Curriculum and Instruction concentration will meet the career needs of educators who work in higher education institutions and those who work in Pk-12 schools in areas such as staff development, program coordination, and curriculum development, leading to such job titles as Curriculum Specialist, Director of Elementary and Secondary Programs, and Reading Specialist.

The Educational Leadership concentration will prepare individuals to become agents of change in organizations as leaders among the ranks of principals, superintendents, and chief executive officers.

This faculty in our EdD program are:

·         Nationally recognized faculty who have held leadership positions in K-12 schools and higher education institutions.
·         Faculty who have held elected leadership positions in state, regional and national professional organizations.
·         Faculty members who use innovative instructional methods.
·         Faculty members, who are research scholars, have published major textbooks, and who are well-published in national and international journals.

Admissions requirements include a master’s degree, a score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), three letters of recommendation from supervisors, and an interview. The deadline for applications will be open, however, we would prefer applications submitted by January 15, 2017.

Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership with a focus on Higher Education!

Participants will learn about graduate program opportunities in Educational Leadership with a specific focus on higher education. FGCU recently established a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership with a specific focus on higher education. A detailed description of the program will be provided as well as a summary of other related COE graduate programs offered at FGCU. This is an excellent opportunity for students, staff, administration, and faculty to advance their careers and become more knowledgeable about postsecondary education.
