Director of the Student Wellness Center/Mental Health Counselor

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of the Student Wellness Center is a key member of the division of Student Services which provides programs and activities that support student learning and success. The Director reports to the Vice President for Student Services and is responsible for leading and managing the operations of the University's Student Wellness Center, which provides both mental health counseling and physical health care for students. The Director must be a licensed mental health counselor in order to assist with providing counseling services to students. The Director coordinates an external contract with medical professionals who staff the center and works to ensure that students receive quality care. The Director works with community service providers to ensure that students have referral sources for care beyond the scope of the center and works with the university's student health insurance provider. The Director is responsible for managing department staff, ensuring that the center runs efficiently and effectively. The Director is responsible for assessment to ensure that programs and services meet the needs of the student population. The Director is also responsible for coordinating campus community outreach, by offering educational programs and events, support groups and workshop opportunities for the campus. The Director holds membership on a number of campus committees and provides crisis intervention services, resources and training on campus. The Director will perform other related duties as needed to support the goals of the division and the mission of the university.
