KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a human services field, behavioral health, or related field
• Two (2) years of experience working with individuals with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring disorders, required
• Current license that meets the Florida Department of Professional Regulations as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
• Knowledge of State of Florida Criminal Statutes relevant to treatments courts
• Ability to handle emotionally upset, and demanding individuals with courtesy and patience
• Ability to maintain jail clearance and work in a jail setting
• Ability to work with defendants from diverse backgrounds in various stressful situations with a highly volatile and potentially violent population

SUMMARY
The Lee County Mental Health Court Program represents an effort to identify and address the unique needs of people living with a mental illness who have entered into the criminal justice system.  It is a court supervised, comprehensive treatment program for adults.  Participants are linked with effective treatment programming in order to improve lives, as well as public safety, and reduce incarceration costs.  The licensed clinician will be responsible for clinical screening and diagnosing of active and pending Mental Health Court participants and also creating appropriate level of care recommendations.  The primary locations for this position will be the Lee County Jail and Core facilities and the Lee County Justice Center.
