Job Description
The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver
(DU) is recruiting two Assistant Professor, Practice of School
Counseling, (12-month appointments) for the 2017-18 academic year in the
Department of Counseling Psychology. Located in the city of Denver, DU
is the oldest and largest independent university in the Rocky Mountain
Region with high research activity and enrolls approximately 11,500
students in its undergraduate, graduate, and professional preparation
programs. Denver is quickly becoming one of the most ethnically diverse
cities in the U.S. Census data show that Denver’s population includes
11.1% Black or African American, 31.7% Hispanic or Latino, 2.8% Asian
American, and approximately 1% Native American residents. Situated in
this vibrant metropolitan community, the University is committed to
building and sustaining a culturally diverse faculty, staff, and student
body.
The MCE is located in Katherine A. Ruffatto Hall, a 65,000 square foot
complex built in 2010 providing a flexible, innovative, and
multidisciplinary learning environment. The facility allows for ongoing
dialogue with community, national, and global partners as we enter a
transformational era in education. The Department of Counseling
Psychology’s philosophy and mission are aligned with the MCE vision to
train global leaders who employ innovative and effective approaches to
advance learning throughout the lifespan, educational change, and social
equity. Our programs prepare ethical, collaborative practitioners who
can apply counseling principles to promote learning and development with
diverse clients. The PhD program is accredited by the American
Psychological Association. The Clinical Mental Health Concentration of
the MA program is accredited by the Masters in Psychology and Counseling
Accreditation Council. We are exploring CACREP accreditation for our
School Counseling area.
Position Summary
We seek candidates with a proven record of excellence in clinical work,
supervision, teaching, as well as who values our mission of serving the
public good and inclusive excellence. The Professor of School Counseling
positions will require an innovative and critical thinker who is
capable of working within a dynamic environment. Specific
responsibilities include: teaching masters courses in counseling
psychology, and assist managing the School Counseling concentration.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision or a closely related field.
Prior experience in teaching, and leadership.
Experience as a School Counselor.
Demonstrated commitment to or experience working with diverse populations.
Evidence of scholarship or creative activity commensurate with clinical faculty expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the graduate level.
Doctorate from a CACREP accredited program.
Work Schedule
To be coordinated directly with hiring manager.

Special Instructions
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This
appointment will be for one year with the potential for renewal. This
position will commence on July 1, 2018 or a negotiated start date.
