Visiting Assistant Professor Position Announcement
Department of Counselor Education Florida Atlantic University
The Department of Counselor Education at Florida Atlantic University is located in South East Florida and includes six tenured faculty members. The Department seeks two (2) counselor educators to join our faculty as a visiting assistant professor for the Fall 2013 semester. Primary responsibilities will include teaching four counseling course each semester in a CACREP-accredited master’s and doctoral program. Appointment will commence August 2013. This is a one-year appointment (9-month), with Summer 2014 teaching available, contingent upon demand and budgetary constraints.
Required Qualification:
1 Earned doctorate (by time of appointment) in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program
2 Work experience as a clinical mental health counselor
3 Evidence of commitment to diversity
4 Experience teaching graduate level clinical mental health counseling specialized courses and/or core general counseling coursework
5 Effective oral and written communication, and technology skills
Desired Qualifications:
1 Experience using instructional technology to deliver eLearning and hybrid courses
2 Experience in supervision
3 Understanding of competency-based training
4 Is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (or eligible)
5 Is a Registered Mental Health Supervisor (or eligible)
6 Record of professional leadership in state, regional, or national counseling associations
7 Eligible for membership in Chi Sigma Iota
