“Play Therapy Across the Lifespan"

Join Southwest Chapter Outreach Subcommitte Chair and FAPT Play Therapy Week Committee Chair, Ann Tilman, in learning about Play Therapy Across the Lifespan!
To celebrate National Play Therapy Week 2020, each Florida Association for Play Therapy Chapter will focus on the theme, “Play Therapy Across the Lifespan.” Participants will engage in didactic and experiential activities to further develop their understanding of how to apply theories and/or approaches of play therapy across the lifespan. Key areas of human development to be addressed are: Prenatal development and infancy, early childhood, middle to late childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood. Participants will explore ways to select and apply developmentally appropriate play activities as an alternate to, or in conjunction with, traditional talk therapy. Desired outcomes include the advocacy of play therapy across the lifespan, acquisition and integration of play therapy theoretical concepts, and implementation of reflective practices within play therapy.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
1. Articulate the value of play therapy across the lifespan.
2. Describe how to evaluate the developmental needs of a client when selecting a play therapy intervention.
3. Identify and implement at least one play therapy theory and approach (directive, non-directive, or integrative) to work with clients using play therapy across the lifespan.
4. Utilize at least one form of self-reflective practice (i.e. journaling, peer consultation, etc.) after implementing play therapy interventions to populations across the life span.
Workshop will be held at:
Florida Gulf Coast University
Student and Community Counseling Center
Training Room 203, Floor 2
