We're exactly two weeks away from the 2018 ASCA Annual Conference!

A Few Reminders and Updates
We're exactly two weeks away from the 2018 ASCA Annual Conference!  Here are a few reminders and updates for you to consider as you prepare to "Reach For the Stars" in Los Angeles.

RAMP Up at the RAMP Fair
Make plans to check out the RAMP Fair – ASCA’s version of a college fair. Visit a dozen different booths to learn more about each component of the RAMP application. Bring along your in-the-works RAMP application, and get feedback from lead RAMP reviewers about your progress. Bring your whole team, and divide and conquer to get the most from the RAMP Fair on Sunday, July 15, 2018, from 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Join a Focus Group During #ASCA18
The Center for Postsecondary Readiness and Success, in collaboration with ASCA, will be conducting two 90-minute focus groups at the conference and is looking for school counselors who are interested in sharing their thoughts on (1) developing college and career counseling competencies and (2) creating a research agenda guided by practitioners. The groups will meet on Saturday, July 14, 2018, in the Los Angeles Convention Center, Room 401. College and Career Counseling Competencies (1:30–3 p.m.)
What do school counselors need to be successful when guiding/advising/counseling students thru their postsecondary planning (college and career)? What skills and knowledge should be non-negotiable when considering any professional who provides student guidance as they navigate postsecondary options?
Creating a Research Agenda (3:30–5 p.m.)
Are you a school counselor interested in building strong research partnerships to guide your comprehensive school counseling program? Are you a school counselor educator with ideas to strengthen college and career counseling research? Are you a doctoral student with suggestions to strengthen your research journey?
If you're interested in sharing your ideas, please send your name, contact information and identify which focus group you are interested in participating in to Laura Owen by July 11, 2018.

Final Reminder - #ASCA18 is a Program-Free Conference
ASCA will not provide a printed program or printed handouts for education sessions. All session information (room numbers, handouts, etc.) are available on the conference mobile app. Be sure to download the conference app and bring your smart phone, tablet or laptop to use onsite.Review the website or mobile app in advance to start deciding which sessions you'll attend. Advanced preparation is your key to making the most out of your experience at the meeting. You'll log into the app with the e-mail address you used to register for the conference (see above for the e-mail address you have on file). The first time you log in, you'll be asked to select a password for yourself.
Get the app on Google Play or in the Apple Store. Don't have a smart phone or tablet? You can also view all the app information on your laptop/desktop computer via the web.
