Home Grown Girls: Sex Trafficking in Florida
Florida has the third highest number of sex trafficking cases reported to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. Victims of human trafficking are children, women and men who are sexually exploited or coerced to work through force or fraud.
We’ll talk about the changes in the way Florida’s criminal justice system is handling prostitution — as victims, not criminals, and going after pimps as traffickers instead. We’ll talk about efforts to eradicate human trafficking, especially in Florida. And we’ll discuss ways to identify, protect and prevent people, especially women and girls from the U.S., from  becoming victims.
This special studio audience broadcast of WGCU’s weekly call-in show Gulf Coast Live! will air on 90.1/91.7 FM and will be video streamed live @ wgcu.org/gulfcoastlive.
