Palo Alto University’s Director of China Cohorts, Global Advancement of Counseling Excellence
Start Date: January 1, 2015
Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 depending on experience
Location: Bejing or Shanghai (PAU does not pay relocation or Visa expenses for living in China)
PAU is seeking a highly motivated visionary trained in counseling or related field to direct the marketing, recruiting and student support services for students in the China Cohort within PAU’s Global Online M.A. Counseling Program. This position will also have cultural contextualization curriculum responsibilities, and oversight of supervision of on-the-ground clinical training. Candidates ideally have a Ph.D. in Counseling or related field with experience working within the counseling profession. Responsibilities include:
· Program Development, Growth, and Vision to include:
o Provide overall leadership for China based marketing, recruiting and enrollment growth.
o Develop China Strategic partnerships and local site liaisons to develop student enrollment.
o Negotiate, maintain and expand partnerships with relevant institutions in China where PAU students can receive on-the-ground clinical training, with a special emphasis on developing a practicum site in Shanghai to support our growing student body in this city.
o Work with PAU faculty, staff, and administration to ensure access to the learning management platform, library resources, and textbook access to deliver a high quality education.
o Work with the China GACE Core Faculty Support in organizing a series of yearly “on the ground” intensive clinical training events using core faculty and China adjuncts
o Ensure that PAU on-the-ground student services are working with China laws and regulations
o Develop and deliver curriculum highlights on a quarterly basis
o Teach one course a year
o Evaluate and provide program effectiveness for continuous improvement
o Recruit and oversee on-the-ground clinical supervisors in China to supervise students in alignment with CACREP standards
o Provide clinical supervision equivalent to 10 units per year
— Student Advising & Retention: Continue to demonstrate the effectiveness of a 21st century blended model of advising that combines use of internet technology and in-person, on-the-ground contacts, with a target of conducting on-the-ground Orientation and talking with each student in person or online at least once per quarter.
o Strive for 90% retention
o Coordinate online curriculum highlights
o Weekly online office hours
o Work with the China GACE Core Faculty to recruit local instructors.
· Qualifications:
o Ph.D. in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Psychology
o Experience building programs, recruiting students
o Ability to establish relationships with clinical sites in China
o Fluent in English and Mandarin
o Experience supervising students and overseeing supervisors
