Our Corporate Headquarter in Fort Myers, FL is searching for a Patient advocate to join our Specialty Pharmacy team!

Full-Time, Monday - Friday Work Week, Days (Example: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)

(Saturdays - occasionally - 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, weekend differential: additional $ 10.00 p/hour)

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality financial assistance for patients of Florida Cancer Specialists' in house pharmacy, Rx to Go.
  • Facilitate and analyze patients who a) have insurance requiring a high copay, b) incur a high deductible, c) who have Medicare or who are eligible for Medicare Part B/D and d) have no prescription drug coverage and /or live on a limited income.
  • Acts as a liaison between the patient and their insurance company, foundations, manufacturers and FCS physicians/clinics. Communicate with patient and/or family members in a caring and professional manner.
  • Explain insurance coverage to patients as it relates to their co-payment responsibility and financial resources available to them.
  • Knowledge of common ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis codes and basic definitions of oncology disease states.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical insurance/billing, financial counselor, and/or patient financial assistance.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills needed. Working knowledge of insurance plans and basic limitations that applies to coverage of certain specialty medications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task are important to the job function. Must demonstrate organizational and computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Fluency in the English language as well as strong communication and customer service skills required.
