Assistant Director of Family Care
Status: Full - Time PositionReports To: Program Director
Summary:
The
Assistant Director of Family Care (ADFC) is responsible for assisting with the
overall management of the programs for children and families of Valerie’s House
(VH). The number one responsibility of the ADFC is to provide support, care and
compassion for Valerie’s House children and their families.
Areas of Responsibility and Essential Duties:
Ongoing Family Care and Support
- Takes lead on communication with families (a minimum of
monthly), providing care and support, assessing their ongoing needs,
referring them additional Valerie’s House services- mentoring program,
Family Assistance, Scholarships, etc and or outside services when needed.
- Monitors and tracks a child’s grief journey as a result
of the grief support group they are placed with monthly check ins and
bi-annual assessments.
- Takes lead on conducting orientations, family tours, and
recommendation of best group placement for children and caregivers.
- Works with Program Director and Assistant Director of
Group Support to evaluate all families a minimum of twice a year, either
in person or over the phone, to monitor their progress in the Valerie’s
House grief support program.
· Responsible for data entry and
tracking families in Family Database.
· Facilitates support groups and serves
as primary staff on group nights as assigned.
- Works with Program Director to develop play therapy handouts and
trainings for staff and volunteers.
· Assists Program Team with the development
of interactive curriculum per semester to allow children to talk about their
loss in a creative way.
- Assist Program Team to develop, coordinate and monitor
School-based Services.

Additional
Duties
- Stays current with grief and bereavement training and
education, willingness to learn as much about the grief and bereavement
field a possible.
- Individual Counseling and working one-on-one with
children and their parents as Valerie’s House considers expanding into the
counseling arena by 2021.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Management Team.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree and licensing in the State of Florida preferred. An understanding and passion for grief on children, teenagers and adults. A vibrant personality, energy and an ability to connect with people. Proficient in technology, running reports, data entry, and an ability to learn new and multiple computer programs. Social media expertise a plus. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License and a personal vehicle for work related travel. Must be able to lift up to 5 lbs. of program supplies and office related materials. Will work some nights and weekends. Please email resume to amy@valerieshouseswfl.org.
