House Program – November 2019
HOUSE MENTORS JOB DESCRIPTION
(ROLES AND DUTIES)
The House Mentors set the tone in
the Safe House for girls that are coming with high Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD). Even though there is a change of shift during the week – the
Mentors are the “foundation” of the Safe House. It is extremely important for
the Mentors to show a heart of unconditional love and showing a lot of grace
for girls that have not been taught how to manage their feelings and emotions.
The level of stress that these young girls have been through is said to be
equal to “Victims of War”. That
is the reason for instituting the rehabilitation program as the “Path2Freedom
Non-Punitive System Model,” which is not without consequences but is without
punishment. The girls are brainwashed by the “Trauma Bonding of the
Trafficker/s.” This Magnolia Model is a “Transforming Model” for highly-stressed
children and “Our goal is to teach the girls God’s family structure” To love,
respect and honor each other. House Mentors will be the role model. This is a
victim service model developed for “highest and best response toward PTSD child
victims.” We use the failures as “teachable moments and behavior modification
techniques.” As the girl begin to
take root and feel safe in the Safe House and begin to develop attachments
toward the staff and others, we gradually give them more responsibilities. On
the job training is the best training tool where real life situations present
themselves each day. Even though the Mentors/staff is given advanced training,
the best learning comes while on duty and consulting with the Executive Director,
Staff and the Team for solutions, rather than a quick response/solution. Path2Freedom does not want to “contain
the girls” but rather, “renew the heart of the girls through unconditional love
and role modeling.” Upon leaving the program, they truly understand how to move
forward and control their emotions and this enables them to live a normal life.
