Re: Tips for finding a school counseling position! :)
Check out Denver Public Schools!  We have several openings still!

This is from our Director of Counseling, a couple days ago:

I have at least four positions open in DPS right now and am looking for some rock stars!

One fulltime is high school level at an alternative school out by DIA.
One fulltime is K-8 over off 38th and I25.
One fulltime middle level is off 6th and Federal
One is part-time middle level by Evans and I25.

I also expect a few additional positions to open in the next few months as we receive grant money. If you have students who are interested, could you please have them email me their resumes at Samantha_haviland@dpsk12.org? I always appreciate the students from your programs and as we build our Counseling team in DPS I am looking for outstanding applicants.

Counselors in Denver get a few extra perks as they receive ongoing professional development in school counseling related topics. Additionally, since school counseling FTE has increased from 60 positions in 2008 to 97 positions in 2014 we have experienced a 14% increase in graduation rates and a decrease in dropout of 4.5% over the same period.
