The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is seeking multiple mental health professionals with experience in collegiate mental health who thrive in an environment that values collaboration and support among team members and will work with us as we seek to embrace differences and help nurture a healthy and healing campus environment for all. Our team’s mission is fostering human development in all of its diversity through compassion, empowerment, advocacy, and hope.

We are seeking early, mid-, and/or late-career generalists with a strong interest in working with domestic and international students in a university counseling center. The clinical assistant professor’s primary responsibility is to provide direct clinical services, including group, individual and couples counseling to University of Florida students. Potential colleagues should have experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns and levels of severity. Clinical faculty members also provide consultation to UF faculty and staff and are engaged in providing professional training and teaching to graduate students, doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows. Similarly, all faculty take part in outreach and prevention efforts.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: assessment/psychological testing, men’s issues, substance abuse, autism spectrum, trauma, and psychotherapy and outreach with underserved/underrepresented minority groups.

Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Clinical Assistant Professors must (1) have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology or counseling from an APA or CACREP accredited doctoral program; and (2) be licensed or license-eligible as a mental health professional or psychologist in the state of Florida within two years of employment. Employment with the University of Florida is contingent upon the results of a criminal background check.

  • -Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • -Experience in college mental health, including crisis assessment/management/intervention, short-term treatment, confidentiality requirements, outreach and referral
  • -Strong interest and experience with training and supervising students from various disciplines at the master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral level


About the Counseling and Wellness Center Mental health services at the University of Florida have historically held a strong importance and distinction in the campus community. The CWC is one of the oldest counseling centers in the country, established in 1931. The CWC is a vibrant, multidisciplinary, multicultural, and creative center, actively engaged in the furtherance and betterment of compassionate psychological services, outreach, and training. The CWC is a dynamic part of the Division of Student Affairs and is highly utilized by students and other campus constituents seeking a variety of mental health services.

Our staff consists of 34 clinicians in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and counselor education. In addition, the psychiatry staff of the Student Health Care Center shares one of our facilities. CWC is home to a large training program for graduate students in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education and a doctoral psychology internship accredited by the American Psychological Association. Members of our staff are cohesive, collegial, engaged, and share a passion for working in collegiate mental health. The CWC is a learning organization as clinical service, training, outreach, and professional development are informed by research, local data, and benchmarking with national trends and peer institutions. The CWC identifies closely with the vision, values, and guiding principles of the Division of Student Affairs.

  • -Group, individual, and couples counseling for students with psychological, emotional, academic and/or relationship concerns
  • -Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or emergency
  • -Stress management and biofeedback services
  • -Outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff
  • -Consultation services for students, faculty, staff, families, and friends of students
  • -Training and supervision to counseling, psychology, and graduate students from pre-practicum through post-doctoral residency

  • -Teaching, research, and scholarship

USF Student Support Services-Project Coordinator Position Vacancy
