Position Summary:

The program coordinator is responsible for managing the daily processes within the student conduct process. This responsibility includes developing reports, maintaining confidential student information, managing the student conduct database, conducting presentations, and corresponding with different campus constituents. The coordinator will also assist the director of student conduct with program assessment and special projects associated with campus-wide efforts or initiatives designed to enhance student retention, including eradication of achievement gaps, and completion. Where appropriate, the coordinator is expected to collaborate with other student services units on matters related to co-curricular learning. The coordinator reports to the Director of Community Standards, and is a member of the Student Engagement staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Director in providing oversight for the College's nonacademic disciplinary system
  • Serve as the primary administrative functions that support the office's functions. Provide timely and accurate information to College officials charged with collecting data for state and federal reporting purposes.
  •  Mediate disputes between students.
  • Perform tasks related to communication including collaborating with Division's communications coordinator to design, develop, and maintain educational and promotional materials that increase campus awareness of the Code of Student Conduct and civility; develop and launch a departmental website; update on-line training modules for new students; and ensure print and on-line resources are available for faculty and staff.
  • Assist the director with developing educational programming related to civility and community standards.
  • Perform tasks related to compliance including maintaining accurate and complete campus disciplinary records in accordance with applicable College policies and make regular updates to associated databases.
  • Assist the director with developing educational programming and conducting presentations to campus constituents.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of student affairs experience, experience adjudicating alleged student misconduct , and experience managing web content.
  • Familiarity with student development theory and its application to co-curricular learning
  • Demonstrated experience in working with college conduct and/or academic integrity processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse work environment.

Marine Corps Educators Workshop

Two of the Department of Counseling alumni Jaclyn Plucker (Class of 2011; on the left) and Morgan Taylor (Class of 2016; right) applied for and were accepted to attend the Marine Educators Workshop on Parris Island, SC.

The Educator Workshop Program was created so that high school administrators, counselors and educators could better inform students interested in a Marine Corps career path.

Morgan and Jaclyn wrote to tell us, "During this week we had the opportunity of a lifetime as we toured base, observed basic training, and participated in a number of drills and obstacle courses ourselves. We are seen in the photo attached, attending the graduation ceremony for new Marines. We highly recommend this experience for any High School Counselors! We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ann H. Cary will join FGCU as dean of the Elaine Nicpon Marieb College of Health & Human Services, effective Aug. 30. Dr. Cary is coming to FGCU from the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she serves as dean of the School of Nursing and Health Studies.


Dr. Cary serves as chair of the board of directors for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and on the U.S. Secretary of Health And Human Services National Advisory Council for Nursing Education and Practice. Her previous appointments include leadership positions at Loyola University of New Orleans, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, George Mason University, Louisiana State University Health Science Center and The Catholic University of America.

Dr. Cary holds a Ph.D. in education and counseling from The Catholic University of America; a master’s in public health from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine; and a B.S. in nursing from Louisiana State University Health Science Center.

We welcome Dr. Cary and extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Joan Glacken, who has served as interim dean of the Marieb College.
