Despite national efforts bullying, harassment and cyber-bullying continues to negatively impact our schools, affecting student achievement, behavior and the overall school climate. Making schools safer requires a whole school climate change approach. This presentation will introduce a blueprint for building safer, successful and high performing schools. We will explore best practice models, resources and programs and activities that achieve systemic and sustainable results in these challenged times. |

Dr. Brown is a national board certified counselor (NBCT) and a recognized counselor leader. Her research area is grade 8 to grade 9 transitions and she has developed a 12 Touch Freshman Transition Model. She has presented at numerous local and national conferences and holds a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University.

Embracing the ASCA framework of Advocacy, Leadership, Collaboration and Systemic Change, school counselors must become visionary leaders and implement interventions that close student achievement gaps and support increased student achievement. This session will highlight counselor leadership strategies resulting in students acquiring the knowledge and skills required to graduate college and career ready. |
