The Zoom Signal Protecting Domestic Violence Survivors
A simple gesture allows survivors to seek help without leaving a digital trail

Just weeks into the Covid-19 lockdown, Elizabeth Barajas-Román was alarmed to learn that incidents of intimate partner violence were increasing in countries around the globe. Approaches that support organizations had previously relied on to reach people in abusive relationships, like running a hotline or providing safety planning in the workplace, were proving difficult to implement while people were stuck at home, often in close quarters with the person perpetrating violence.

are encouraged to start early. Applications will be considered for admission on
a space available basis to qualified applicants beyond the deadline.
Applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee and interviews are
scheduled between February 10th and March 15th. Initial notices of acceptance,
deferred decisions or denial of admission are mailed by the first week in
April.

Counseling Programs is to prepare exemplary professional practitioners, leaders,
and scholars. The programs use a research-practitioner approach that integrates

global society. The program trains counselors who work in pre-K through grade 12
schools, social service, government agencies, hospitals, community

Job Goal:
In coordination with the
principal, the counselor is responsible for providing individual and group
counseling and guidance services on appropriate level in order to assist
students in their growth towards educational, vocational, and personal goals.
To help provide a developmental program, which assists in acquiring the
understanding and skills to become self-directing and self-correcting.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Valid Nevada Counseling and Teaching License*
Valid Nevada Driver's License
Successful candidate must complete a thorough background check and pass
mandatory pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
Working Conditions:
Office or suitable workspace
with desk, telephone, computer, and supplies necessary to carry out functions

School Counselor position
The SEL Specialist will:
- In
collaboration with the Lower School Head, School Guidance Counselor and
faculty develop and support the implementation of SEL curriculum
- Conduct
school climate assessments and analyze data to support the SEL curriculum
- Lead SEL
professional development for faculty and provide parent education and
training to members of the community
- Communicate
and collaborate closely with families to coordinate support and to provide
resources
- Develop
and maintain relationships with a range of community members, including
non-profits, and mental health agencies
- Work with
the Lower School Head, School Guidance Counselor and Coordinator of
Learning Support to assist school efforts to skillfully balance learning
needs across the student body
- In
collaboration with the Lower School Head and School Guidance Counselor,
act as a resource for faculty and staff in providing emotional and social
support for students/families of diverse backgrounds
- In
collaboration with teaching faculty, support students social-emotional
development through one-on-one, small-group and whole group instruction
- Develop and manage an intentional, PreK-5 approach to social emotional learning that produces data driven results to be shared with the Fountain 33 Foundation through a pre-existing collaborative relationship
