Avow Butterfly Release event

The Avow Butterfly Release event will be held on March 26, 2016 in Cambier Park in Naples, Florida.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • View hundreds of live butterflies inside exhibit tent.
  • Enjoy musical entertainment
  • A variety of butterfly craft activities will be available for children
  • Shop for all things butterfly at the “Wings to Go” sales tent
  • Pick up a treat from the volunteer bake sale or on-site vendors

12:00 – 1:00 PM

Participate in the remembrance ceremony featuring songs, inspirational readings and a public reading of the names of those being remembered. At the close of the ceremony the butterfly exhibit tent will be opened for a breath-taking release of beautiful butterflies.

(On-line registration closes on Wednesday, March 24. Phone-in registrations close at 3 PM on Friday, March 25. A limited number of name registrations will be available the day of the event for $50 per name.) Follow this link for more details and to pre-register.

Hope Hospice: Weekly LGBT Grief Support Group

Hope HealthCare Services is offering a weekly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender grief support group. Open to the community, the LGBT grief group provides an opportunity to discuss feelings of loss and learn from the experiences of others.

There is no charge to attend the grief support group.

“Spirituality, Faith and Religion vis vie the LGBTQ+ Community”


Visuality Inc.’s “Visuality Voices” jointly with (FGCU’s) Florida Gulf Coast University’s GSA continues to sponsor a series of educational public panels.

“Spirituality, Faith and Religion vis vie the LGBTQ+ Community” is scheduled on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 6:30 pm -9:00 pm at FGCU. (Florida Gulf Coast University) in Marieb Hall; Room 200; (nursing bldg.) 10501 FGCU Blvd. S. The nearest parking lot is P1. There is no charge to attend this event.

The purpose of the panel is to educate and inform the community/ general public to better understand how being an LGBTQ individual impacts relationships, families, day- to- day lives and basically their existence.

Position: Eligibility Specialist in the Family Self-Sufficiency Unit

The Lee County Department of Human and Veteran Services has an opening for an Eligibility Specialist in our Family Self-Sufficiency Unit. This position interviews clients to determine eligibility for assistance with various programs, primarily emergency services. Knowledge of other local agencies and programs is helpful. Mater Academy Charter Middle High School is an "A" Ranked College Preparatory Middle-High School in Miami-Dade County.  We are ranked among the best high schools in the nation by US News and World Reports and Newsweek.

We are beginning to interview potential educators for the 2017-2018 school year.  We are seeking Full-Time Middle and High School Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics Teachers.   Additionally we are interested in school counselors and several other subject areas.

Up to $47.5 Million Available To Help People Experiencing Homelessness


The purpose of this program is to support the development and/or expansion of community infrastructures that integrate behavioral health treatment and services for substance use, co-occurring mental and substance use disorders, permanent housing, and other critical services for individuals (including youth) and families experiencing homelessness.

Up to $6 Million Available To Support the International AIDS Relief Addiction Technology Transfer Centers


The purpose of this program is to establish the International President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Addiction Technology Transfer Centers programs in Vietnam, South Africa, and Ukraine. These programs seek to increase the capacity, skills, and abilities of Vietnamese, South African, and Ukrainian HIV/AIDS programs, governmental agencies, and PEPFAR programs to address problematic mental and substance use and further the goals of national HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs.

Position: Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Lee Health


Works in collaboration and partnership with chronically ill or "high-risk" patients and their family/caregiver(s), clinic/hospital/specialty providers and staff, and community resources in a team approach to provide linkages for the various health and social needs of the patient. Provides assessment, treatment, group and individual therapy, and support services. Develop in conjunction with clinical team, an individualized treatment plan to address needs of the patient/significant others to support recovery. Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health associated with chronic disease, depression, addictions and substance abuse, stress management; self-esteem; and aging.
