FMHCA Conference in Orlando Florida


The Florida Mental Health Counselor’s Association is currently accepting workshop proposals for the 2017 Annual Conference in Orlando Florida, February 2nd-4th, 2017 at the Orlando Marriott- Lake Mary Hotel. All proposals must be submitted online by August 31, 2016 in order to be considered. The online form allows you to upload all documents required for submission, as well as, complete the application. First round acceptance e-mails will be sent in the beginning of September.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the position is responsible for the direct care, supervision and well being of all children enrolled in the Summer Camp, for children ages 5-12.

Status Part-Time / Non-Exempt
Typical Physical Demands
Requires individual to perform a broad range of activities. Requires full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. Requires corrected vision, speech, and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Ability to lift 30 pounds. Extended standing, bending stooping and walking

PREVENTION COORDINATOR



JOB DESCRIPTION
PREVENTION COORDINATOR

Qualifications:
•        Degree in public health, social services or closely related field;
•        Prefer experience with the public health outcomes based planning model, SAMHSA strategic prevention framework;
•        Prefer Certified Addictions Prevention Professional Certification and/or experience as prevention specialist;
•        Excellent facilitation skills, coaching, supporting and developing collaborative partnerships;
•        Experience managing in a collaborative environment, respect for diverse cultures, and experience in public speaking and presentations;
•        Flexible schedule for evening and weekend work/events, as needed;
•        Must be cleared through NCIC/FCIC background check and drug screen, and must pass motor vehicle report clearance;
•        Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and preferred knowledge of e-newsletter software (i.e. Constant Contact) and desktop publishing software (i.e. Microsoft Publisher and Adobe programs);
•        Must have reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver’s License;    Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Reports To:  Executive Director of Drug Free Collier.   

Duties and Responsibilities:  The Prevention Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the overall coordination and development of Drug Free Collier’s initiatives, including media and marketing efforts and youth engagement.  Duties include to:

•        Represent Coalition through participation on related taskforces, coalitions, boards and community meetings;
•        Create and give presentations to various groups and organizations in Collier County in order to educate about the coalition and implementation of environmental strategies to change community climate around substance abuse; 
•        Input data in online data management systems for State and Federal contracts;
•        Maintain accurate and current statistics regarding substance abuse in Collier County; 
•        Establish and maintain positive working relationships with participating agencies, referral sources and other community groups to assess, plan, and implement prevention initiatives within the paradigm of environmental strategies; 
•        Research and implement science-based substance abuse prevention programs; 
•        Recruit community members to serve as Coalition members and volunteers; 
•        Develop and maintain consistent branding for Coalition to promote a unified message of its mission;
•        Develop reports, print material, online material such as e-newsletter and other promotional items to help raise awareness of substance abuse prevention and assist in marketing/resource development efforts;
•        Work with youth to develop school clubs tasked with promoting substance abuse education and positive peer influence;
•        Coordinate community events, such as membership meetings, town hall meetings, youth events, trainings and youth development activities;
•        Assist the Executive Director in exploring grant outlets, grant writing and report preparation; 
•        Performs basic duties of the Executive Director in his or her absence or as directed by the Board of Directors;
•        Other duties as assigned.
