Job Description
The Graduate Admissions Counselor manages graduate recruitment activities in support of graduate student enrollment strategic goals. Provides admissions counseling to graduate students on the admissions process, admission requirements, and subsequent enrollment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
Two years of professional full-time experience in student recruitment, admissions, or related field.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Experience with personal computers using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
Four years of professional full-time experience in student recruitment, admissions, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of facilities and services afforded students.

Job Duties
Essential Job Duties
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
•Manages graduate recruitment activities through recruitment events, appointment, telephone, email and other materials.
•Provides admissions counseling to graduate students on the admissions process, admission requirements, selection process, and subsequent enrollment by appointment, walk-in, telephone, email and other materials.
•Assists with processing of inquiries and applications.
•Develops an organized system of communication and follow-up process with potential applicants.
•Evaluates international and upper-level admissions applications for accuracy and completion. Enters decisions provided by the program into the student information system.
•Researches and resolves complex issues related to admissions decisions.
•Creates, maintains, and ensures electronic admissions records are complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
•Plans and coordinates recruitment and yield events such as open houses, graduate student visits, community information sessions, and graduate student tours for prospective graduate students in support of student enrollment strategic goals.
•Provides creative support in the development of recruitment marketing materials and communications including letters, brochures, website postings, electronic mail and other mediums.
•Works collaboratively with and represents graduate admissions in campus meetings with Deans, Chairs, Program Directors, and Faculty members is support of graduate enrollment strategic goals.
•Creates and implements evaluations, assessment, and student enrollment strategic goals to assess and report growth and effectiveness of the graduate programs to supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
•Identifies opportunities for improvement that enables the graduate programs to achieve their strategic goals.
•Works collaboratively with administrators in the development, implementation, documentation, and enforcement of program policies and procedures
•Advises and collaborates with campus partners to provide students with resources, support, referral, and advocacy.

2020 Congress-Bundestag Vocational Exchange Scholarship


Florida is once again participating in the Congress-Bundestag Vocational Exchange Scholarship
Program. This scholarship/exchange program is administered by Nacel Open Door and provides
an opportunity for 25 graduating high school seniors from across the United States to spend one
year in Germany learning the German culture and exploring their career interests. Florida has
been very well represented with the selection of students each year. There are currently six
students from Florida participating in this program. Please bring this scholarship/exchange
program to the attention of students you feel would be good candidates and encourage them to

Department Chair, Counseling - Associate/Full Professor



12 Month Position

Florida Gulf Coast University invites applications for the position of Associate/Professor of Counseling and Program Chair starting in the Fall 2020. FGCU offers the unique opportunity to help grow a founding program at a young University. As part of the dynamic and growing Marieb College of Health and Human Services and the first clinic in the Marieb College, the Department of Counseling features a CACREP accredited student-centered, field-based programs in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling as well as three post-master’s certificates, and the new Community Counseling Center. This position reports to the Dean of Marieb College of Health & Human Services.

This position is a 12-month appointment and qualifies for a continuing contract which is a rolling three year contract. The successful practitioner candidate will be expected to collaboratively lead the educational program, faculty, students, and staff in developing a world class reputation, teach graduate courses in a CACREP accredited counseling program(s), have a record of professional service, research, and extramural funding and create a culture of interprofessional education and practice competencies for counseling graduates. The Department Chair has authority and responsibility for the delivery of the Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling programs in accordance with the College and University strategic plans. Candidates will be expected to fulfill scholarly research requirements and service responsibilities to the department, college, university, and the community as well as advance the Counseling profession.
